Adventures at the Farm

Along with visits to the county fair and the apple orchard, both of which were covered in previous posts, another favorite fall activity is visiting a farm. This time we headed out to Connors Farm, not too far from our house, for our first visit to a corn maze. This in fact the same corn maze where a family got lost at night and called 911 to be rescued. Fortunately, we went during the day and did not get lost, so we didn't need to call anyone to be rescued.

Maya seemed curious at first:

Then she got a bit grumpy, despite being joined by Ryan and Zach:

After a while she just got sleepy:

Corn mazes are apparently tiring! She did walk a lot on those little legs. We also took a nice relaxing hayride at the end of our visit to the farm:

Another fun activity, especially on a day with such great fall weather! :)

Adventures in New Hampshire

A couple weekends ago we headed up to New Hampshire for a quick overnight trip; Hyder was up there for work stuff so we joined him on a Friday night. After a long, rainy drive up there and a quick dinner at a Thai restaurant, we headed to the beautiful Lake Opechee Inn for bedtime. After a good night's rest, we headed out in the clean mountain air to walk around a bit.

We stopped by a waterfall in Meredith:

Then headed to a friend's house for food, drinks, and great conversation! The house is located on Lake Winnipesaukee, with gorgeous views:

Maya enjoyed wandering around outside, especially when she could get back to her Dada:

All in all, a fun quick trip! :)

New Clothes and a New Saying

Maya has been growing taller lately and has grown out of some of her old clothes, which have been sent on to other little girls. :) So she's been wearing some new outfits lately, including this one that was a birthday gift:

She's also got a new saying - "Aw man" - and she says it with feeling! We of course think this is adorable and giggle every time she says it. Another funny thing she says: the word fork except she drops the r so it sounds like another word... that rhymes with duck. Much giggling from me and Hyder in response!

Dancing and Playing and Painting

Maya has continued on her quest to dance her little heart out to any and all music. Lately we've been dancing to music by Rihanna, which is always fun. :)

Maya also loves dancing in her music class, even when we're supposed to be doing other activities:

She does seem to enjoy the class, and I think Hyder loves it too! After class today we took advantage of the beautiful weather with a trip to the park:

After fun at the park and a delicious brunch, we headed home. Maya requested her paints, brushes, and paper, which she then proceeded to use at her new table and chairs - thanks to Ajji for that gift! She managed to keep most of the paint on the paper and her fingers:

A few days ago she did a painting with brushes instead of her fingers:

That masterpiece was sent off to Uncle Eric, who recently became Dr Eric Olmon. Congratulations to him!

Fun at the Fair

Last weekend we braved the rainy weather and took a trip to The Topsfield Fair for a day of fun rides, farm animals, and fried food. :)

We were with some good friends who were nice enough to watch Maya while Hyder and I went on a ride:

And of course we took Maya on the carousel, which she loved:

We went in to the barns to see the animals, including cows:

And sheep, which smelled significantly worse though were quite calm:

Next up was eating. We started with honey sticks from a local farm:

After some delicious Polish food, we worked on dessert:

And ended the day with a ride on the ferris wheel:

Definitely a fun day at the fair!
