Fall Foliage and More

We enjoyed some great visits last fall with friends and family. My cousin Karishma came up to do one semester of her college experience in Massachusetts, and my sister Chethana and her husband Eric moved to Rhode Island. So, we had lots of fun at various activities last fall. These included going out to experience dance as public art, looking at the fall foliage, watching the boats at Head of the Charles, pumpkin carving, and more:

Fall Fun

As I continue catching up here, I'm looking back through photos and realizing we had lots of fun last fall. We visited several farms, meeting up with various livestock, going on hayrides, and picking lots of farm fresh produce:

And of course, fall means football in the Husain household, with our friends who occasionally play with cards and other toys during the games:

Fall also brought the start of ballet classes for Maya, which she has thoroughly enjoyed:

Adding to the Chaos

Along with all the other chaos in our lives, we found out midway through 2012 that we are expecting another baby. In August we found out that our next baby will be a boy.

Maya was excited by the news:

And my belly has been growing ever since! Here I am at 28 weeks:

Here I am at 32 weeks:

And here I am at 37 weeks:

Baby is due January 22nd, so we'll get to meet him soon!

Another Few Months of Craziness

I'm looking back now and realizing that I haven't posted on here for almost three months. I did have a couple more trips - one to Israel in September and one to California in October, which kept me busy. And of course there's this business of growing a human inside me that takes some time & energy. But we've still had a lot of fun in between all the other craziness.

After we finished our travels, we took advantage of the warm weather in June & July with trips to various swimming pools, backyard cookouts, and beaches:

We also celebrated Maya's third birthday in July with a spray fountain, pizza, cupcakes, and a bunch of her friends:

We also managed a quick getaway to Rhode Island and Connecticut in early August, with more fun in the sun, at the beach, and on the water:

We also went camping with friends in August, during which we spent time swimming, eating, and playing:

Obviously, Maya's swimsuit got a lot of use! And we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves this summer. :)

Living Life in the Fast Lane

This poor blog has gotten woefully out of date, and I feel like I owe my imaginary Internet friends an explanation. Most of my real friends know all of this already, so those of you can feel free to skip this section.

From March through June of 2012, we entered a period of Life in the Fast Lane. We traveled to the following locations during those four months:
  • March 2012:
    • B - work trip to Tel Aviv, Israel
    • Family - personal trip to Austin, TX
  • April 2012:
    • B - work trip to Tel Aviv, Israel
    • Family - personal trip to Portland, ME
    • Family - personal trip to Houston, TX
  • May 2012:
    • B - work trip to San Francisco, CA
    • B - personal trip to Los Angeles, CA
    • Family - personal trip to Portland, ME
  • June 2012:
    • B - work trip to Tel Aviv, Israel
    • Family - personal trip to Los Angeles, CA

We were expecting to do all of this travel but it was still quite tiring. My work trips were for a project that focused on an acquisition, with most of my new co-workers from the acquired company being located outside Tel Aviv. Our personal trips were for pre-wedding and wedding festivities on both sides of the family.

Obviously, this travel took up a lot of time and energy. I'm surprised our house is still standing after all of that! We tried to take it easy in July & August, with our only trips being focused in the New England area. And sometime in the midst of all that travel we also found out that we're pregnant! Our second baby is due to arrive in late January. And we just found out that we're having a boy. :)

Here are a few pictures of our various adventures in Israel, Texas, and California.

New Clothes, New Shoes, New Bed!

As I've previously noted on this blog, Maya is a very lucky little girl to have so many generous people in her life. We get lots of hand-me-downs from our friends, which has the double benefits of being environmentally friendly and cost effective. And we get gifts from our friends as well, which is always nice too, though not necessary at all.

Maya recently received a new sweater from our friends Sidney and Andrew, who know that Maya loves stripes and Hyder loves yellow. Maya also recently received new shoes from our lovely neighbors Marilyn and Ken, who think of her as a princess who needs sparkly shoes. Maya wore her new clothes and new shoes with much joy the other night:

Maya also recently received a new bed from her friend Zach, who had finished using it. She LOVES this bed and doesn't want to get out of it in the mornings. And she's thrilled to have all her fuzzy friends join her in bed:

Our little girl is no longer a baby! Now if I could just get her to stop sucking her thumb...
