Further Adventures in Eating

We've already established on this blog that our daughter is (thankfully) not picky about food. As she's gotten older and gotten more teeth, she's gotten even more adventurous with what she'll eat.

Here she's attacking an ear of corn:

Here she's about to eat a burrito:

She got through about one third of it before she handed it off to us - pretty impressive!

And finally here she's working through a slice of pizza:

I'm so glad she's willing to try whatever we're eating!

Happy Birthday to Maya - Part II

During my family's visit we had a birthday party for Maya and her friends at a park nearby. We got lucky with beautiful warm weather, so the park's spray area was pretty popular with the kids and the adults:

After some time running around in the water, the kids took a break and played in the sandbox:

Even that got tiring, so Maya retired to the swings with Dada, her buddy Coral, and Coral's mom Sheila:

We had some pizza for lunch, then gathered everyone up to cut the cake:

The cake and the frosting were made by me, and the decorations were done by my sister:

After we sang happy birthday to her, the birthday girl got to have some cake:

She was very tired afterward so we headed home for naptime! Once she woke up, we opened even MORE gifts from her friends. Maya is a very lucky girl!

A Wonderful Visit with Family

We were lucky enough to have a visit from my parents and my sister at the end of July. They were here for a little over a week and Maya loved spending time with them. My sister was here for a conference so she managed to do some work while in town.

Things started out with another birthday gift and card from Ajji:

We also took advantage of my sister staying in a beautiful hotel for a quick visit to see the view:

We had a delicious Italian dinner, which Maya also seemed to enjoy:

Another day we went on a quick hike through The Fells:

And we did all the usual goofing around with family - tickling each other, going upside down, and more:

More pictures and stories in the next post!

A Weekend in the Woods

I've been terribly behind on blogging - life has been quite busy! I realized that I didn't even talk about our camping trip in mid July. We had a good time while camping, though Maya was quite uncomfortable by the end of the weekend. Sensitive skin + sweaty sticky camping = no fun. But for most of the time she was happy. She discovered how much she liked pine needles:

And of course she enjoyed swimming with her buddies Zach and Ryan:

At night, all the kids (Maya, Ryan, Zach, Lilia) enjoyed chasing bubbles:

Though the next morning it was nice to pack up and head back home:

Hopefully by next summer her skin will be less sensitive and camping will be more comfortable!
